Farmers complain of veterinarian shortage, treat some animals themselves

There is a shortage of veterinarians treating large farm animals in Lithuania. Some farmers admit that due to the lack of specialists, they often treat the animals themselves. Data shows that specialists are particularly lacking in the regions, and young veterinarians are deterred from working on farms by potentially more difficult working conditions and lower pay. However, according to university representatives, an increasing number of students are considering returning to work in the regions in the future.
