Religion researchers state that the Kremlin exploits Moscow Patriarchate communities operating in Europe for propaganda and espionage. The Lithuanian State Security Department has previously warned about such a threat. However, the Minister of Justice and the opposition believe that it is more important to offer believers an alternative rather than ban subordination to the Moscow Patriarchate.
